Notes
The first motherboard launched by ASUS in 1989. ASUS ISA-386C supports 33 MHz and 40 MHz front-side bus speeds.
- Chipset: SiS 85C310/320/330 ("Rabbit"), a high-performance 386DX chipset.
- CPU socket: PGA132. There is also a PGA121 socket for the 387 coprocessor.
- Cache: 64 KB of external cache. The 386 has no on-chip cache.
- RAM: 8× 30-pin FPM SIMM slots, up to 32 MB.
CPU Support
- Intel 386DX-33 or AMD Am386DX-40 or -33.
- Socket for Intel 80387-33, 33/40MHz 80387-compatibles or Weitek 3167.
Am386DX-40
- Cache speed: At 40 MHz the SRAM should be fast enough, about 25 ns or better.
- RAM speed: Use 60 to 70 ns SIMMs.
Memory
The on-board memory installs in eight module mounting sockets which are divided into banks of four sockets each. Memory added to these banks must ne installed a full bank at a time, and in sequence (0 then 1). The on-board memory allows for of up to 32MB of memory.
An additional 32MB of memory can be installed using a proprietary memory expansion card, for a total of 64MB. I don’t have such a memory card.
PSU
Set JP3 power good signal detect from power supply, pins 2 & 3 closed.
